New for 1975: - Catalytic converters. - Headlight warning buzzer. - Last year for Astro-ventilation. - First year for the use of L-82 hood emblems.
- High Energy Ignition (HEI). HEI was the Corvette's first pointless ignition system, also marking the beginning of the electronic tachometer. - Kilometer per hour subfaces first appeared on Corvette's speedometers - Engine availability in the 1975 Corvette dropped to the lowest number since 1955. In 1975, only the L-82 engine option was offered as a choice to the base L-48. With deletion of the 454CI engine, the 1975 Corvette became the first since 1964 not to offer a choice of displacement. - Soft bumpers were redesigned structurally for 1975, and external appearance varied slightly from the previous year. The front bumper had an inner honeycomb core and simulated "pads" on the exterior. The rear bumper skin was redesigned as a one piece unit (unlike the 74 two piece unit) and had inner shock absorbers for impact and simulated pads like the front. |
